Muş Alparslan University Technical Sciences Vocational School students organized a technical trip to Alparslan-2 Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant under the presidency of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ramazan ATICI in order to increase their technical knowledge and experience.
The trip was held with the participation of a total of 36 students from the Electronics and Automation Department. The students who participated in the trip were welcomed by the power plant authorities and received comprehensive information about the general operation of the power plant. The students were given detailed information about the working principles of hydroelectric power plants, energy production processes and the environmental effects of these processes. During the power plant trip, the students had the opportunity to observe the stages of converting water into energy on site. Detailed information was obtained about the structure of the dam, critical components such as turbines, generators and the control room. In particular, it was shown to the students how the energy production process is monitored and managed in the control room. During the trip, the power plant engineers who guided the students answered the students' questions and made detailed explanations about the topics they were curious about. The students also learned important information about the sustainability and environmental effects of hydroelectric energy. The studies conducted on the management of water resources of the power plant, environmental protection measures and energy efficiency were conveyed to the students.
Technical Sciences Vocational School Director Dr. Lecturer Fatih ŞEVGİN stated that the technical trip was a great opportunity for the students and said, "Such trips allow our students to see their theoretical knowledge in practice and support their professional development. Seeing the operation of hydroelectric power plants on site gives our students a deep understanding of the energy sector." At the end of the trip, the students discussed and shared the information and experiences they gained with each other. It was emphasized that such technical trips play an important role in developing the professional knowledge and skills of their students. The students thanked everyone who contributed to the organization of the technical trip and stated that they wished such events to continue.
